A study on demand on optical internet access service

Abstract

21C is knowledge-based society in which the competitive advantage of a country depends on the informatization of the nation. IT industry of the basis of knowledge-based society and internet is very important. The number of domestic internet users have been explosively increasing since the latter half of the 1990s and high speed internet subscribers have also been the same, But many problems are occurring in current internet services because of the increasing data demand and traffic by growing of internet users. So, each country is striving to develop optical internet service as one means of building Next Generation Internet(NGI) to solve the current internet problems. Korean government also established the optical telecommunications technology development plans to provide optical internet access services by 2003. For this reason, the necessity of demand forecast and market analysis about optical internet access service are increasing, in order to expand the supply of the optical internet services. In this thesis, demand forecast and market analysis about optical internet access service are mainly focused. In order to forecast the demand, the Makov model was chosen. It was modified by price level to suit this research. Experts survey was performed according to price(when the price is the same as high speed internet and when it was 3 times, 5 times greater than that of high speed internet service). According to demand forecast, the demand of optical internet service varies greatly according to the price.
