Wireless mobile systems spread all over the world. In the whole human history, this technology is the fastest adopted one. Those countries that adopted it early now experience new ways of communications; that is, high speed, and high quality access to the Internet anytime, anywhere. Republic of Moldova is a small country in Eastern Europe that nowadays is facing a challenging issue to become a member of European Union. European vector is declared as a national priority. In order to realize this objective, it is necessary to adjust everything to the European standards. ICT infrastructure is one of the critical factors that can leverage the economic development and facilitate integration process. Actually, ICT infrastructure in Moldova is below the European standards.
The goal of this research is to identify critical factors for successful deployment of 3G wireless mobile systems. Two most advanced countries in Eastern Asia and one emerging in Eastern Europe have been benchmarked, gap analysis has been performed, and a strategy map was developed. Critical factors for successful deployment of 3G have been found. Finally, important recommendations to the Government of Moldova have been carefully outlined.
