A special purpose calculating system using 8-bit microprocessor, 8080A, is designed for determination of firing data. This system performs calculations of chart data and firing data which are needed for cannon firing.
For its effective performance, a processor, called number crunching unit(NCU), which can perform complex mathematical computations, as slave processor, is interfaced with the 8080A microprocessor, as master processor.
Principally the determination of firing data must be extracted from tabular firing table which constitutes of the basic source of the ballistic data for each cannon. In this system, all of the data are converted to polynomial functions using curve fitting method, and the firing data is computed from them. Finally the electro-sensitive printer prints the results of computation.
