This work presents the architecture of ATSC Terrestrial/Cable tuner which is highly competitive in the tuner market. Among the various receiver architectures, single conversion Zero-IF architecture is a viable candidate solution for low cost and low power.
We have determined the system specifications such as system sensitivity (ability to receive signals with minimum power), distortion performance (IIP3,IIP2) which need to allow desired channel reception while dealing with interferers or adjacent channels up to 35dB higher, composite triple beat (CTB) and composite second order (CSO) distortion which are specified in Cable reception linearity requirements. Using the analyzed radio specifications, the specific radio specifications are allocated for each block components.
And a new current mirror based CMOS wide-band low noise amplifier for tuner is also proposed.
