In recent years, considerable progress has been made in the theory of gain scheduling. Current gain scheduling practice is necessarily limited to slow variation in scheduling variables. This dissertation proposes the incremental state/output feedback control law which reflects the variation rate of scheduling variables. The proposed incremental controllers achieve better performance than the existents for tracking somewhat fast scheduling variables while rejecting exogenous signal. The stability analysis for nonlinear systems with time varying inputs is also provided. The analysis result determines the appropriate control gain in constructing incremental controllers. Some illustrating examples are also provided. Moreover, the proposed control law is applied to pitch control in a simplified missile system.
