Interference graph-based scheduling and power allocation for infrastructure-based cognitive radio networks = 인프라스트럭쳐 기반 무선 인지 네트워크에서의 간섭 그래프 기반 스케줄링 및 전력할당 방안

In recent years, a large portion of the licensed spectrum is used sporadically. With the dramatically increasing demands of the scarce radio spectrum for wireless services, cognitive radio (CR) has drawn great attention in the world for its ability of operating in licensed bands without a license. In a cognitive radio network (CRN), secondary (unlicensed) users (SUs) may coexist with active primary (licensed) users (PUs) of a primary radio network (PRN) as long as the served SUs do not cause excessive interference to active PUs. In fact, CR has been standardized by both recent FCC policy initiatives and IEEE 802.22 activities. A CRN can be deployed either as an infrastructure based network or an ad-hoc network, coexisting with a PRN. However, in this work, we limit the study in investigating a joint scheduling and transmit-power control problem of down-link transmissions for an infrastructure-based CRN in coexistence with a cellular PRN. Cellular PRN uses a set of licensed non-overlapping orthogonal frequency channels for communication between primary base stations (P-BSs) and PUs. This set of channels is also accessed in an opportunistic manner by a set of cognitive radio base stations (CR-BSs) to support SUs. The problem is formulated to maximize the spectrum utilization of SUs without causing excessive interference to active PUs of PRN. Specifically, the total interference power received at each PU should not exceed a preselected interference temperature limit (ITL). In addition, all the serviced SUs must meet a certain Quality of Service (QoS) requirement, such as satisfying a predefined signal to interference noise ratio (SINR).
