In this paper, asymmetric dual active clamp forward (ADACF) converter for reducing the large primary conduction loss is proposed. The proposed converter consists of two cells, and one of ACF cell is changed to achieve high DC voltage gain. In addition, the secondary winding of one transformer is added for additional high DC voltage gain with adjusting the overlapping duty of the two main switches using phase-shift control. Due to the high voltage gain, large turns ratio of transformers can be designed. Therefore, the proposed converter can improve the efficiency by reducing large primary conduction loss without additional semiconductor device. To confirm the validity of the proposed converter, 36-72 VDC input voltage and 480 W(12 V/40 A) output prototype have been implemented.
