Cells are exposed to continuous physical stimuli in serving their bodily functions and are designed to sense and respond to these stimuli through a process called mechanotransduction. In attempts to utilize cells for developing tissue constructs, it is essential to ensure that the target cells are cultured and maintained in physicochemical microenvironment that can promote proper cellular functions. In this study, we mimicked the physicochemical characteristics of the skeletal muscles and skin, and examined the regenerative effects of such biomimetic conditions on development of tissue constructs to suggest the advanced tissue engineering strategy for treatment of the severe wound.
