Due to abrupt industrialization and urbanization, attention toward air pollution including PM is rising. As studies show that not only mass concentration of PM10 but ratio of even smaller particle or specific component also has an impact on daily mortality, it is crucial to develop a system capable of measuring size distribution and composition of PM conveniently. Former study showed that there is significant difference in complex reflective index between major components of PM i.e. mineral dust and combustion particle, which implies different scattered light intensity according to Mie theory. In this paper, method of differentiating black carbon component using measurement of scattered light from two different angle was suggested and verified with computer simulation. Prototype is built and measured soot particle and reference polystyrene bead to check the deviation.
