Piezoelectric materials have been widely applied to a variety of fields, attributed to their capability of converting a mechanical stress and electrical response. The present study investigates the piezoelectric performances of various materials for energy harvesting technique under different loading conditions. The effects of incorporation of various materials such as urethanes and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) on composites were explored. Further, piezoelectric performances for electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) method was investigated in consideration of temperature effects. The piezoelectric performances of piezoelectric material based urethane composite and PZT ceramic based transducer are discussed in relation to energy harvesting and EMI method.
