본 발명은 메타쉐쿼이아의 잎으로부터 분리된 하기 구조식의 디하이드로히노키플라본 또는 이의 약제학적으로 허용되는 염을 활성성분으로 하는 항암제, 특히 암세포의 전이 및 침윤과 관련된 매트릭스메탈로프로티나아제(MMPs)의 발현을 감소시키고, p53의 활성화에도 관여하여 암세포의 성장, 전이 및 침윤을 억제하는 항암제를 제공한다.
