Development of the electronic personal dosimeter using plastic scintillator and SiPM플라스틱 섬광체와 실리콘 광증배소자를 이용한 전자식 개인 선량계 개발

The Fukushima NPP accident in 2011 and the increasing the NPP in China cause the anxiety of radiation exposure to public. The Electrical Personal Dosimeter(EPD) is too expensive to supply to public, so this paper suggest the cheaper EPD using the plastic scintillator and Silicon Photo-Multiplier(SiPM). This paper confirmed the characteristics of the detector module coupled with the plastic scintillator and SiPM. The energy range of the detector module can find the gamma ray energy is from 195keV to 1.33MeV. And the experiments checked the number of digital count depends on decay chain, activity and distance of radiation source for evaluating the accuracy of radiation response. And there were 0.65% of standard deviation for operation reliability by resetting the power supply for reverse bias of detector module and operation bias of electronic circuit. The other experiments used the reference radiation irradiation facility in the KHNP. The characteristics of EPD as reproducibility, dose rate linearity, dose linearity, angular response followed the EPD standard as IEC Standard, Ontario Hydro Standard and ANSI N13.11-1993. From the experiments results, characteristics of detector module coupled with the plastic scintillator and SiPM operation are suitable for EPD. And it make the technical foundation of EPD supply in cheaper price.
