In this letter, we propose an efficient multiple access scheme for multimedia services in satellite networks, retransmission announced reservation multiple access (RARMA), in which resources are reserved according to the occasional demands by using spare reservation request and are released later by using a distributed release scheme. We analyze the throughput of RARMA, and show that our proposed scheme has a good throughput-delay characteristic through computer simulation.
