Multipurpose fiber-optic access network

Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a multipurpose fiber-optic access network (MFAN). This network uses the same fiber infrastructure for a variety of services including baseband, cable television (CATV), personal communication service (PCS), wireless local loop (WLL), and local multipoint communication service (LMCS). The experimental results show that the proposed network could support the independent operation of these services. © 2002 Optical Society of America.
