Nano plasmonic structure-based color filters for display applications = 디스플레이 응용을 위한 나노 플라즈모닉 구조체 기반 컬러필터 연구

Plasmonic filter is in favor of state-of-the-art color filters which show superior optical performances when assisted by extraordinary optical transmission (EOT). Researchers have recently highlighted the possibilities of plasmonic color filters (PCFs) for use in industrial applications. However, previous results have demonstrated the functions of PCFs as stand-alone components and have provided few explanations about the optimization of these structures. Moreover, previously reported results of PCFs were demonstrated in too tiny area, and fabrication methods are one of the main obstacles to supplant conventional dye-based color filters despite of offering good performance from high accuracy of patterns. In this respect, here we report a study on PCFs which are highly adjustable for industrial applications by giving an analytic design method and the fabrication process for large-area. In section 2.1, we provide a design method of plasmonic color filters that offers unique analytic insights. In a metallic hole array system, an efficiently EOT-mediated structure is investigated through simulations using both symmetric and non-symmetric structures. A dielectric overlayer along the cylindrical wall assists with mediating the SP resonance at an energy level similar to that in a thin continuous film. Optimized filtering characteristic is obtained when the holes are filled with the dielectric material, and the planar surface of the structure is advantageous when integrated onto other devices. Next, we report a large plasmonic color filter (PCF) of primary colors fabricated with laser interference lithography (LIL), firstly reported to best of our knowledge in section 2.2. From the suggested whole fabrication process, hole arrays with the periodicity of hundreds nm are produced in a 2.5 cm × 2.5 cm sized whole sample area.
