dc.description.abstract3D sound manipulation is to control a sound field for generating a desired sound field or a desired impression at a position or region that we want. The sound manipulation can be done with regard to physical domain or human being’s impression field. The physical sound manipulation can be anything that makes sound field in the region of interest. The region can be either a point or a volume that has a finite size. We can attempt to concentrate sound energy or make certain wave front in the region. On the other hand, virtual sound manipulation that makes sound with regard to the impression can be thought as a customization of the impression that relates how we feel and the characteristics of sound sources or field. The Human Related Transfer Functions (HRTFs) is one of best candidates that can do the proper customization. The fundamental theory behind of the sound manipulation and practical applications are introduced.-
